South Kashmir residents demand macadamization of Pulwama-Awantipora road | KNO

Pulwama, Jun 22 (KNO): The residents of different areas of South Kashmir here have demanded immediate macadamization of Pulwama-Awantipora road and also the widening of the narrow spots along the route to prevent traffic jams and accidents. According to the locals, who spoke to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the narrowness of the road at some points from Pulwama-Awantipora road results in traffic jams besides that the condition of the road is very dilapidated. “The government must take urgent steps to widen this important road, especially in Koil area,” said Sameer Ahmad, a local resident. He said the road is currently in shambles at several spots and there is an immediate need of repairing this road. Mudasir Ahmad, another local urged the government to pay particular attention towards this vital road, adding that the narrowness of this vital road connecting Awantipora, Tral, and other areas with the district headquarters has also resulted in frequent traffic mess. Employees and daily passengers said that the dilapidated condition of the road and narrowness is giving tough times to them, adding that students, elderly people and employees are the worst sufferers. They said that despite bringing this issue into the notice of concerned authorities several times, nothing has been done in this regard. They requested higher ups to look into the matter at an earliest and take immediate action so that the locals won't suffer anymore—(KNO)
